MS Publishing ("we") values the privacy of every user of this website (mspublishing.co.id) -- whether you're an aspiring author publishing a book through our services, a buyer purchasing books from our Store, or a general visitor. This policy explains what data we collect, what it's used for, who it may be shared with, and your rights over that data -- including specifically how we contact you via WhatsApp.

1. Data We Collect

Depending on the service you use, the data we collect includes:

  • Identity data: full name, pen name, place & date of birth, gender, occupation, and national ID number/KTP-NIK (specifically for ISBN/QRCBN submissions to the National Library of Indonesia and for verifying ownership of manuscripts/books).
  • Contact data: email address, WhatsApp/phone number, and shipping address (for physical book purchases).
  • Files you upload: your photo, ID photo/scan, manuscripts, cover design references, and other supporting files you submit through our forms.
  • Transaction data: publishing order history, purchase history, selected packages & prices, payment status. Online payments are processed by a third party (iPaymu) -- we do NOT store your card/bank payment data on our servers.
  • Account data: if you create an account, we store your password in encrypted form (hashed, not reversible), bank account data (for authors receiving royalties), and account activity history.
  • Data from Google Login (if you choose to register/log in via the "Login with Google" button): your name, email address, and profile photo registered to your Google account -- we ONLY receive this data after you approve it via Google's official consent screen, and we NEVER receive/store your Google account password.
  • Technical data: IP address and access time, used strictly for security purposes (e.g. preventing repeated login/book-claim attempts) and login sessions (cookies).

2. How We Use Your Data

  • Processing your book publishing order: editing, cover design, layout, ISBN/QRCBN submission, through to printing/production.
  • Processing purchases from our Store, including physical book shipping.
  • Verifying identity when you claim ownership of a book published through MS Publishing (e.g. matching your national ID number).
  • Calculating & paying royalties to authors.
  • Sending information related to your orders: order confirmations, work-status updates, payment reminders, requests for additional data (ISBN, cover design brief, manuscript revisions), and verification codes (OTP) for login.
  • Maintaining system security (e.g. rate limiting against suspicious login/claim attempts).

3. Communication via WhatsApp

We contact you via WhatsApp for purposes DIRECTLY related to the service you're using -- NOT for unsolicited marketing/promotion. Messages we send via WhatsApp include: verification codes (OTP) for account login, manuscript/order work-status updates, payment reminders, requests to fill in additional data (e.g. ISBN data or cover design brief) via a link accessible only to you, and royalty-related notifications.

These messages are sent via the official WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta Cloud API) and/or a third-party WhatsApp message service provider we use for our team's internal operations. If you no longer wish to receive WhatsApp messages from us, please contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.

4. Sharing Data with Third Parties

We share some of your data with third parties ONLY to the extent necessary to run the service you requested:

  • National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas) & IKAPI -- for ISBN/QRCBN submission of your book (name, identity data, book title).
  • Payment providers (iPaymu, Xendit, Midtrans) -- to process order/purchase payments and royalty disbursement.
  • Meta Platforms, Inc. (WhatsApp Business Platform / Cloud API) -- to send official WhatsApp messages as described in section 3.
  • Shipping/courier services -- name, phone number, and shipping address for physical books you purchase.
  • Email service provider (SMTP) -- to send email notifications related to your order/account.
  • Google LLC -- ONLY if you choose to use "Login with Google", for identity verification & retrieving basic name/email/profile photo per the permissions you approved on Google's consent screen.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

5. Data Security

We apply reasonable security measures to protect your data: passwords are stored in hashed form (not reversible), the website connection uses HTTPS, and several sensitive features (login, book claims) are protected by rate limiting to prevent abuse. Even so, no system is 100% risk-free -- we encourage you not to share your password or OTP code with anyone.

6. How Long Data Is Retained

We retain your data for as long as your account/business relationship with us continues, or as long as needed to meet legal obligations (e.g. ISBN submission records). You may delete your personal data at any time on your own (see section 7 below), or request it via the contact details at the bottom, noting that some data may need to remain stored for legal/administrative compliance related to already-completed publishing.

7. Your Rights, Including Deleting Your Own Account

  • Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Delete your own account, at any time, without needing to contact us first -- via the "Delete Account" menu on the My Account page after logging in. Once confirmed, your personal data (name, email, WhatsApp number, profile photo, ID number, bank account data) is immediately replaced/deleted and the account can no longer be used to log in. Works (novels/short stories/poems), comments, and reviews you've created REMAIN (byline changed to "Deleted User") so that other readers who have already purchased/read them don't lose access, and coin/order transaction history remains stored for financial record-keeping compliance but is already detached from your personal identity. If you want your works/comments deleted as well, or have another request outside the scope of this menu, please contact us using the details at the bottom.
  • Opt out of receiving non-essential WhatsApp/email communication from us.

8. Cookies

This website uses session cookies to keep your login status active while navigating between pages. These cookies automatically expire when you close the browser or log out, and are not used to track your activity on other websites.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Significant changes will be communicated via this page.
